74VHC164 -- 8-Bit Serial-In, February 2008 74VHC1648-Bit Serial-In, Parallel-Out Shift Register Features General Description High Speed: f = = MAX 175MHz at VCC 5V The VHC164 is an advanced high-speed CMOS device P Low power dissipation: I = = fabricated with silicon gate CMOS technology. It CC 4µA (max.) at TA 25°C arallel-Out Shift Register High noise immunity: V = = achieves the high-speed operation similar to equivalent NIH VNIL 28% VCC (min.) Bipolar Schottky TTL while maintaining the CMOS low Power down protection provided on all inputs power dissipation. The VHC164 is a high-speed 8-Bit Low noise: V = OLP 0.8V (max.) Serial-In/Parallel-Out Shift Register. Serial data is Pin and function compatible with 74HC164 entered through a 2-input AND gate synchronous withthe LOW-to-HIGH transition of the clock. The device fea-tures an asynchronous Master Reset which clears theregister, setting all outputs LOW independent of theclock. An input protection circuit insures that 0V to 7Vcan be applied to the input pins without regard to thesupply voltage. This device can be used to interface 5Vto 3V systems and two supply systems such as batterybackup. This circuit prevents device destruction due tomismatched supply and input voltages.
